The detached holiday house is within an extensive plot of land at the highest point of Penedo, a typical Portuguese village in the Sintra mountains. The village is in a wild, peaceful and quiet area within the Sintra-Cascais nature reserve, which is a UNESCO heritage site, near Almoçageme and Colares. Penedo is village high up in the Sierra de Sintra with a wonderful view over the landscape of the nature reserve. It is the ideal place for holiday-makers seeking plenty of peace and quiet, away from city noise, in contact with nature and the sea.
The 150m² private garden terrace has sun loungers and a parasol. The front terrace also has garden furniture. You can relax and enjoy the lovely view towards the sea the the Sintra mountains. The 2000m² plot has two dogs and two cats. The garden is divided into two areas, connected by a door, each with a barbecue. One of the gardens belongs exclusively to guests, while the other is shared with the owners or guests at the neighbouring house and has a shared pool with a view of the coast, the mountains and some of the typical villages of the region.
The holiday house is comfortably furnished and can accommodate up to four people. It has a bedroom with a double bed and a sofa bed in the living room. The living and dining room also has a fireplace stove, satellite TV and a dining table with chairs. The open kitchen is fully-equipped with a stove, oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, coffee machine and washing machine. The bathroom comprises a shower, washbasin and toilet. Most of the windows open up a great view over the landscape.
The surrounding landscape is ideal for nature lovers, as there are many hiking trails in the forest or also hilly cycle routes. Owing to the convenient location, it is easy to get to the most important tourist destinations, from the coast 4km away to the town 35km away. The nearest beaches are 4-14km away. The village itself has a couple of little grocery shops. There are larger supermarkets in Almoçageme 2km away. The local markets offer fresh produce such as fruit, vegetables and wine. The westernmost point of the European continent, Cabo da Roca, is 8km away. In the area you can play golf, go surfing, windsurfing, riding etc. During the summer months there are some fairs in the surrounding villages.
Owing to the layout of the site on different levels, children should always be supervised. The property is not suitable for families with children under six years of age. Smoking is only permitted outdoors. The owners live in the main house on site and are happy to assist with any queries. A car is essential, as many places are within a radius of 40 kilometres. You can park on site, or leave it off site. Note that access to the site is along a steep gravel road, but it is no problem for the average car.
